In the textile industry, polyester staple fiber (PSF) has become the main raw material for many textiles due to its physical and chemical properties. With the improvement of global environmental awareness and the increasing importance of resource recycling, Recycle PSF(polyester staple fiber) has become a hot topic.
Polyester staple fiber is a fiber obtained by polymerization, spinning, cutting and other processes of polyester (polyethylene terephthalate, PTA). Its main uses include the cotton spinning industry. It can be spun alone or blended with cotton, viscose fiber, linen, wool, vinylon, etc. It is widely used in textile clothing, non-woven fabrics, filling materials and thermal insulation materials. The main specifications of polyester staple fibers include semi-dull white 1.56dtex×38mm, semi-dull 1.33dtex×38mm and glossy 1.33dtex×38mm, among which semi-dull white 1.56dtex×38mm is the benchmark specification, accounting for 49% of the original staple fibers.
The production and disposal of polyester staple fibers have brought about a lot of environmental problems. If a large amount of discarded polyester staple fibers are not treated, they will not only occupy precious land resources, but also pollute the soil and water bodies. Therefore, the recycling and reuse of polyester staple fibers is particularly urgent and important.
The recycling process of polyester staple fibers mainly includes the steps of collection, sorting, cleaning, melting and respinning. Discarded polyester staple fiber products, such as old clothes and non-woven fabrics, are collected through recycling channels. Then, these products are sorted to remove impurities and non-recyclable parts. Next, the sorted polyester staple fibers are cleaned to remove stains and grease attached to the fiber surface. The cleaned polyester staple fibers are melt-treated and converted into molten polyester, which is then remade into polyester staple fibers through a spinning process.
The recycling and reuse of polyester staple fibers not only helps reduce environmental pollution, but also saves a lot of raw materials and energy. According to statistics, recycling 1 kg of polyester staple fibers can save about 6 kg of petroleum resources and reduce about 3 kg of carbon dioxide emissions. In addition, recycling and reusing polyester staple fibers can also ease the textile industry's dependence on raw materials and improve resource utilization efficiency.
In the modern textile industry, the application of recycled polyester staple fibers is becoming more and more extensive. Many textile manufacturers have begun to use recycled polyester staple fibers as raw materials to produce various environmentally friendly textiles. These textiles not only have similar physical and chemical properties to virgin polyester staple fibers, but also have better environmental performance and sustainability. Clothing made of recycled polyester staple fibers excels in wearing comfort and durability, while reducing waste generation and environmental pollution.
In addition to textile manufacturing, recycled polyester staple fibers can also be used in other fields. In the automotive industry, recycled polyester staple fibers can be used as raw materials for sound insulation, filling materials and interior materials. In the construction industry, recycled polyester staple fibers can be used to produce thermal insulation materials, sound insulation materials, and waterproof materials, etc. These applications not only expand the market space for recycled polyester staple fibers, but also provide possibilities for their application in more fields.
